Sexual Assault Intervention Network (SAIN)

  • Coordinates child sexual and physical abuse investigations with state and local police, the Department of Social Services, and the District Attorney's office.

  • Ensures medical and mental health care for victims.

  • Tracks each and every child through prosecution and beyond.

  • Compiles statistical analysis of child abuse cases.

Child and Family Counseling

  • Provides therapeutic services to child victims and their non-offending family members.

  • Provides clinical evaluations of children affected by violence.

  • Provides comprehensive group treatment program.

  • Provides clinical support and consultation to the SAIN program.

  Prevention and Outreach Program

  • Increases community awareness of child abuse and domestic violence.

  • Provides programs to the community to prevent child abuse.

  • Acts as a community resource for violence prevention materials.

  • A collaborative effort between the Kids' Place and the Elizabeth Freeman Center.

Court Appointed Special Advocacy Program (CASA)

  • Trains community volunteers to advocate for the best interest of children in court.

  • Provides a system of detailed reporting and monitoring to ensure that children don't fall through the cracks of the child protective system.

  • National CASA member program

SAFE BERKSHIRES Program

  • Provides advocacy and counseling services to abused women and their children.

  • Increases awareness of the effects of domestic violence on children.

  • A joint collaborative between the Kids' Place and the Elizabeth Freeman Center.

Pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program

  • Provides comprehensive and child-centered medical care when a child or family presents with a concern of sexual abuse or assault. 
  • Pediatric nurse examiner conducts developmentally appropriate physical examination and time sensitive forensic evidence collection on site in a state of the art medical exam room. 
  • The program is guided by the principle of first, do no harm, and seeks to minimize further stress to a child and their family.

Berkshire Trauma Response Network (BTRN)

  • Works collaboratively with existing agencies and school administrations to plan the most effective response in the event of a critical incident.

  • Coordinates Post Traumatic Stress Management Training for school and community based professionals throughout Berkshire County.

  • Available to respond and assist in the recovery process following a critical incident in Berkshire County and provide support to the impacted community.

 

 

 

 


Berkshire County Kids' Place & Violence Prevention Center is a Children's Advocacy  Center providing services to victims of child abuse and their non-offending family members. The Kids' Place  is a Berkshire United Way agency and a full member of the National Children's Alliance.

Eligibility: Services at the Kids' Place are free and available to victims of child abuse, children who witness domestic violence and non-offending family members.

Hours:
Monday-Thursday, 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, and Fridays, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
