Sexual Assault Intervention Team:
  • Coordinates child sexual and physical abuse investigations with state and local police, the Department of Social Services, and the District Attorney's office.

  • Ensures medical and mental health care for victims.

  • Tracks each and every child through prosecution and beyond.

  • Compiles statistical analysis of child abuse cases.

Child and Family Counseling:
  • Provides therapeutic services to child victims and their non-offending family members.

  • Provides clinical evaluations of children affected by violence.

  • Provides comprehensive group treatment program.

  • Provides clinical support and consultation to the SAIN program.

Prevention and Outreach Program:
  • Increases community awareness of child abuse and domestic violence.

  • Provides programs to the community to prevent child abuse.

  • Acts as a community resource for violence prevention materials.

  • A collaborative effort between the Kids' Place and the Elizabeth Freeman Center.

Safe Berkshires Program:
  • Provides advocacy and counseling services to abused women and their children.

  • Increases awareness of the effects of domestic violence on children.

  • A joint collaborative between the Kids' Place and the Elizabeth Freeman Center.

Pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner:
  • Provides comprehensive and child centered medical care when a child or family presents with a concern of sexual abuse or assault.

  • Pediatric nurse examiner conducts developmentally appropriate physical examination and time sensitive forensic evidence collection on site in a state of the art medical exam room.

  • The program is guided by the principle of the first, do no harm, and seeks to minimize further stress to a child and their family.

Berkshire Trauma Response Network:
  • This program is also named BTRN.

  • Works collaboratively with existing agencies and school administrations to plan the most effective response in the event of a critical incident.

  • Coordinated Post Traumatic Stress Management Training for school and community based professionals throughout Berkshire County.

  • Available to respond and assist in the recovery process following critical incident in Berkshire County and provide support to the impacted community.
